Summer Camps off to a great start

We are having a look back at the first 3 weeks of summer camp this year. Averaging over 45 kids per day, hitting a whopping high of 57 attending in one day and what perfect weather have we had over the last few weeks. It’s truly summer in Scotland

Overwhelmingly positive feedback has come through for our new Rosso lunch option, with the pizza Being the clear-cut favourite from the menu (shocker). But not one sour comment about any of the food options yet!

As we begin the remaining 3 weeks of camp, UHC would like to remind you that there are still spaces available and be sure to book your Rosso’s food option as well!

A Massive thank you to our sponsors!
Palazzo Kitchen and Bathrooms our main sponsors who supply all the camp shirts
Rathbones for our signature camp drinks and Rosso Bothwell for our delicious food

Top Level Men’s Coach Harry Dunlop Joins Uddingston to Coach Ladies Section

Uddingston Hockey Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Harry Dunlop as their new
head coach of our ladies’ section, which consists of 4 teams who play in National League Division 2,
West District Divisions 1, 3 and 4.
Although Harry will focus majority of his efforts on the 1st team he will also work with our existing
Director of Hockey Mick Evans plus our ladies senior and junior coaches to further develop our pipeline
of talented female players coming through with the view of developing a performance environment
across all levels of our ladies section.
Harry has coached at Performance level within Scottish Hockey for over 20 years and has coached;
Scotland U16 Men, Scotland U18 Men, Scotland U18 Women, Scotland U19 Men, Scotland Senior
Women’s “B” Squad and Scotland Senior Men. During these duties Harry has been part of the Scottish
Hockey coaching team at both the Women’s World Cup & the Men’s World Cup Qualifier, as well as
countless European tournaments plus more exotic foreign competitions such as the Prime Ministers
Gold Cup, held in Dakar, Bangladesh.
He had a successful period as head coach of Western Men’s Hockey club, during which time Western
won 5 Scottish league & 4 Scottish Cup titles plus 3 Gold medals at the European Club
Championships “B” Division while gaining entry to European indoor competition and finishing 3rd in the
outdoor league in last season’s competitions.
Harry holds a GB level 4 Hockey Coaching qualification and is both a qualified Tutor and Assessor
within Scottish and English Hockey Coach Education, as well as being a qualified umpire.
Harry commented “I have coached across all levels of gents hockey for many years now and when
Uddingston approached me with this opportunity of developing their ladies’ section into a top National
League club to mirror their gents section I jumped at the chance to start this new exciting period in my
coaching career.

Director of Hockey, Mick Evans commented “as a club we have been working towards having
development plans in place of equal levels for our gents, ladies and youth sections with the simple aim
of having the best facilities, coaches and players available to all levels at our club.
Therefore, being able to entice a top level coach from gents hockey over to ladies hockey was just
simply too good an opportunity to miss for our club and once Harry’s availability and enthusiasm for
our project became known to us we made every effort to sign him up.

Andy Tennant, Head of Performance at Scottish Hockey commented ‘From a coaching perspective it is
great so see such a high-quality coach with vast experience in men's hockey accepting a fresh
challenge in the female game - and knowing Harry Dunlop he will embrace that successfully and take
Uddingston's women's programme to the next level”.
Uddingston Hockey Club are delighted with this appointment and in the coming weeks will also
announce Harry’s assistant coach / manager plus some new players who will be joining his squad for
the 2019/20 season promotion drive to National League Division one.
However, for now the club will turn its attention to their six weeks of summer sports camps held at their
grounds in Uddingston that include performance and fun hockey as well as fun tennis, football and
Nerf Wars with all very welcome to attend and book online via our website.

Uddingston Further Strengthen their Ladies Coaching Team with Appointment of Adam McInnes

Further to the announcement of Harry Dunlop as the new Head Coach of Uddingston Ladies, the club is
delighted to announce the appointment of Glasgow Sports Council Young Coach of the Year Adam McInnes
as Assistant Coach / Manager of the Uddingston Ladies 1st XI.

Adam had a highly successful spell as Head Coach of Glasgow University Women’s Hockey Club
(GUWHC) (2016-2018), during which time he coached the club to the Scottish National Division Two title
and promotion to National Division One for the first time in the club’s history.

He also oversaw GUWHC winning Scottish BUCS 1A, the top university league in Scotland, for the first time
ever. Adam was the youngest National League Head Coach in Scotland throughout his time with GUWHC.
Adam has been the Head Coach of the Scottish Grand Masters International Squad since 2018 and in June
of this year coached the squad to the bronze medal position at the 2019 Grand Masters European Cup
in Brasschaat, Belgium. This was the highest finish that Scotland has ever secured at this age-group at
European level and was a result that saw Scotland finish significantly higher than their pre-tournament

Adam Commented, “I am delighted to be joining the Ladies coaching team at Uddingston. When the
opportunity to work alongside Harry Dunlop at such an ambitious club was offered to me, I couldn’t refuse.
I am excited about the prospect of helping this group of players to realise their significant potential and to
secure Division One status for the club. I can’t wait to get started.”

Head Ladies Coach, Harry Dunlop commented, “I am delighted to have appointed an assistant coach of
such a high calibre. Adam is, in my opinion, destined to be one of our top coaches at the Senior level
and is already well on the way to achieving this. More importantly, Adam won National League 2
previously which is our current objective for Uddingston Ladies, so brings with him a large amount of
hugely valuable and very current knowledge.

Director of Hockey, Mick Evans commented “this is yet another great appointment for our ladies’ section
and I greatly look forward to working with both Harry and Adam as it will not only improve our coaching
team on the ladies’ side but also strengthen the overall team supporting our great young pool of talent
coming through.

Uddingston Hockey Club are delighted with this appointment and in the coming weeks will also announce
some new players who will be joining their ladies squad for the 2019/20 season promotion drive to
National League Division one as well as further facility improvements focused on making the spectator
experience better for all.
