Gents 4s captain interview

Hi Steve,

Can you present your team ?

The Gents 4th Team was a development squad looking to develop a group of boys aged around 14 years old who had recently moved up from youth hockey to play in senior hockey.  In addition to the youth players, the team has 5 or 6 experienced senior players within the club providing support, coaching and encouragement on a weekly basis.

What do you think of the team season ?

Last season was a mixed experience with some weeks being exceptional and some weeks being not so good..... but we achieved our objective, avoided relegation and remained in the West District 2nd Divison.  Week on week every player gave 100% effort and commentment, but sometimes the game and outcome did not go our way.  It was a great learning experience for the youth players and I even think the more ‘experienced’ players learned a few new skills.

What are your goals for the next season ?

Unfortunately I have stepped down as the 4th Team Captain for next Sean, but I expect (hope) to be included in the team as a player and will continue to support the on going development of the youth players with in squad.

What do you think of Uddingston Cricket & Sports Club ?

Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club is a great club to be part of - it provides opportunities for all regardless of ability to be involved in sport.  Personally I have be involved in the club for over 30 years, first playing rugby at youth level and moving over to play hockey, and I have encouraged my family to be involved in club and play sport.

Ladies 3s captain interview

Hi Margaret,

Can you present your team ?

Ladies 3’s Team consists of a very wide range of ages and experience from age10+ to 60+ with a pool of over 20 players.

What do you think of the team season ?

This Season we welcomed several new senior players and also gave league debuts to a number of our youth players which was extremely encouraging.   As well as being a pathway for our youngsters to learn and progress, we also invite and welcome older players back to the game or adults looking for a new challenge.

The Team finished a credible 7th with our highest ever points total of 31.  We also for the first time ever achieved a place in the Womens West District Plate Semi-final.

What are your goals for the next season ?

The aim for the coming Season is to continue building the strength of the side and to use the 3’s as a development team for our very talented youngsters so they will be able to progress to a higher level.  Coupled with this our aim is to push for promotion out of Division 4.

What do you think of Uddingston cricket & sports club ?

We are very grateful for the excellent support we receive from the Club and the outstanding facilities which we now enjoy, including the support of 2 Coaches for our Ladies 3’s which again reflects the first class organization and commitment to all levels within the UC&SP.
