Smoker Preperations Well Underway & Tickets Going Fast

Guys… As you will be aware, the preparation for this year’s

long-awaited UHC Gents Smoker is well underway. Tickets are available

but are limited due to regular attendees pre booking their tickets in

To purchase a ticket please speak to myself or your captain as soon as
possible as we are expecting the night to be sold out within the next
few weeks with us selling on a first-com-first-served basis.

As always, the Smoker is not only the most fun night on the UHC
calendar, but also the major fundraiser. Therefore, I am always happy
to hear from individuals, local businesses or even global corporations
with offers of raffle and auction prizes…….small or large in value.
Every little helps.

Look forward to seeing you there.

The gents 1st XI will be looking to bounce back from the opening day defeat to Wanderers. Bryan Clarke will be between the sticks for the villagers after the the end of the cricket season for the popular Tunnocks Uddingston 1st XI wicket keeper.

The second XI are also looking to get back to winning ways and will be under the stewardship of vice captain Bobby Morrison in  the absence of captain Fraser Campbell for this weekends clash.

Captain John Platt will have Alan Johnston,Nathan Allison, Gregor Johnston,Lewis Haxton and Shaun Murray to name  in his development squad after they have been training with the 1st XI over the closed season. This is the start of the campaign for the new development squad as the club looks to build for the future under the watchful eye of past 1st XI stalwarts Ross McWilliams, Ross Paterson and John Platt.

The 4th XI are looking forward to a home clash with Western as Captain Gordon Fraser continues to breed success with a fine mixture of young and old within the 4th XI squad. With the only home clash of the weekend, Gordon would be looking for plenty of support for this tie.

Uddingston Ladies to add development squad

The number of female players has increased over the summer, with some ladies returning to playing after a break and some new players coming to join us here at uddingston.

These things, coupled with the growing number of under 18 girls, means we have the opportunity to start a 2XI as a ladies development squad.  The aims of the squad being to give our younger girls the opportunity to experience a higher level of play, and to enter into west district league competition next season.

The squad will be a mix of some experienced senior ladies to support our younger girls.

Their first game this season will be Sunday 16th September 2012 @ Dalziel Park, Motherwell 2pm pass back.
