Primary Schools Easter Festival - Thursday 29th March at Holy Cross

Uddingston Hockey Club are holding their first primary school festival that will see the conclusion of it's first block of in-school and after-school coaching programme.

The festival will see 5 primary schools consisting of Muiredge, St Bride's, St Paul's, Aitkenhead and St Paul's all taking part in either the morning session 9:30 - 11:30 or the afternoon session 12:30 - 2:30 at Holy Cross High Astro Turf on Thursday 29th March 2012.

The in-school and after-school clubs will then re-start on 16th April and run till the end of the term in June with us planning to increase numbers taking part to include 3 secondary schools and 10 primary schools, which will hopefully give grass roots hockey a great boost across Lanarkshire and Glasgow.

Should you be interested in helping on the 29th or would like further information on our in-school programme please contact us at the following email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Sunday 12th February 2012

The Youth Section continued from their Training Event at Inverclyde last week by some of the players who were involved there attending with other U12 team mates the West District U12s Festival held at Titwood in Glasgow on Sunday the 12th February. We had a squad of 8 players supported by Youth Section Coaches to help out with the Umpiring & Coaching.

The format for the day was a series of 7 aside games played on a round robin basis against teams of their piers from 5 other clubs. The players all performed well and picked up on match skills as well developing their learning of the rules and fair-play, even though the rules are more ‘relaxed’ at this level to keep the game flowing.

The day went well and we had a few wins & the players all did well as individuals but even more so as a team with good passing and movement as well as enjoying themselves. As a result some great from the team as well as seeing where they can develop.

The players are all looking forward to attending each of the remaining Festivals and to improve their game. In all a good day out, good fun for all, a good start to our Festival re-attendance & a continued expansion from our Inverclyde weekend.

Well done to the team and Coaches & thanks to parents for coming along and supporting the team and the club.
